The Safety Technologies that Stand Out on the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA is a very safe sub-compact crossover that relies on a number of advanced safety technologies to protect everyone on board at all times.

The Active Brake Assist

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA comes standard with the Active Brake assist which is a system that uses the radar sensor mounted in the grille to determine the distance of the vehicle in front and the speed difference between it and the GLA. When it detects that there is a risk of rear-ending the vehicle in front, this system warns the driver and prepares the braking system so that as soon as the pedal is depressed, the full braking force is applied.  If the driver fails to react in time, the brake assist can even apply the brakes automatically in order to bring the GLA to a stop before hitting the obstacle.

The Attention Assist

Another standard safety feature of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA is the Attention Assist which constantly monitors the driver in order to detect any sign of drowsiness or fatigue that could increase the risk of an accident. By relying on up to 70 different parameters, this system is capable of accurately evaluating the attention level of the driver via their behaviour. If the driver is determined to be getting sleepy, the system will issue an audio-visual warning to signify it is time to take a nap or a coffee.

The Crosswind Assist

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA offers protection against strong gusts of wind with the standard Crosswind Assist. In order to help the driver keep their vehicle inside of their lane even when encountering strong winds that try to push the GLA to the side, this system uses a variety of sensors to determine when drifting in the lane is caused by the wind rather than driver input. When this is the case, the system will gently apply the brakes to one side only in order to gradually pull the GLA back on its path without requiring the driver to make too many steering corrections.
