Everything you want to know about the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB

The Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle lineup is one of the most comprehensive in the industry today. The new family of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles includes a range of new models including the EQS and EQE as well as their SUV equivalents. There is another model that is arriving on the market this year that is also very appealing, especially for buyers that are interested in a smaller yet very versatile premium luxury electric SUV. We are talking about the all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB and here we will look at everything this new electric small SUV has to offer.

Generous range and quick charging capability

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB features a 70.7-kWh battery that is connected to two electric motors located on each axle of the EQB. This battery provides up to 365 km of all-electric range and because there is an electric motor on each axle, you enjoy the added benefit of 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The EQB provides more range than many of its competitors but it also features quick charging capability.

At home, you can charge at up to 11 kW which will give you full range in just 6.25 hours. This is significantly less than many similar electric vehicles. The new 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB can charge at up to 100 kW on a DC fast charger, giving you up to 80% range in just 32 minutes. What makes the EQB so appealing is that despite offering generous all-electric freedom, it also provides quick charging which means that you can get back out on the road quickly.

Impressive interior versatility

If you find that the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB looks a little bit like a gas-powered GLB, that's because it does. And like the GLB, the all-electric EQB offers some surprising features inside that greatly enhance versatility. For example, the EQB can seat five passengers standard but you can also opt for an optional third row which pushes the passenger capacity to seven. This is one of the few electric luxury SUVs that offers room for seven passengers and certainly the only one in its segment. Even if you don't want or use the third row, you still enjoy a lot of interior space in the EQB.

Second row headroom is a generous 962 mm while front headroom is rated at 1069 mm. To put things in perspective, this means that passengers who are over 6 feet tall will still be comfortable in the entry-level Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle. Moreover, the cargo area is quite vast as well. You will enjoy 495 L of cargo space behind the second row but total cargo capacity is a very impressive 1710 L. Again to put things in perspective, this is more total cargo space than what you find in a Mercedes-Benz GLC. What is even more impressive is that the EQB only measures 4,684 mm. This makes it a small SUV that is easy to park and agile around the city.

Impressive performance

We already mentioned the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. It's still worth mentioning again because it makes the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB one of the most agile electric vehicles you can find in winter driving. That said, the performance of the EQB stands out in more ways than one. The combined horsepower rating of both electric motors is 288 hp, enough to push you to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. Torque is a generous 384 pound-feet, meaning that you get immediate accelerations the second you touch the accelerator. Like a true luxury electric vehicle, the 2023 EQB leaps forward and gives the driver an immediate sense of confidence.

Multiple drive modes are offered to allow you to adjust how the EQB performs on the road and you can make it more efficient, more comfortable, or even sportier. There are also paddles behind the steering wheel that allow you to control energy regeneration and even brake using your fingers.

The impressive agility of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB is further enhanced with standard torque vectoring brake technology which provides additional control by targeting braking force on the inside rear wheel to ensure optimal agility. This creates a gentle pivot of the vehicle as you're going around the corner, increasing overall stability and narrowing the turning radius.

Advanced multimedia technology

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB also gives its owners the latest in connectivity technology. The standard 10.25-inch centre touchscreen multimedia display is connected to a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster display for a clean, very modern look. The instrument cluster in the centre houses the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience infotainment system with voice control and natural language understanding. This allows you to control various functions using natural voice commands. You also enjoy advanced Mercedes-Benz navigation with Electric Intelligence which allows you to plan your route in advance to make sure you will have charging stations along the way. You can also use this navigation system to find the closest charging station when needed.

The new EQB also delivers on luxury with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and pre-entry climate control which allows you to set the interior temperature of your vehicle before stepping inside. This will make sure you are always comfortable regardless of the season. The interior is further enhanced with a 64-colour LED ambient lighting system and the EQB makes it easier to put your bags in the back with foot activated tailgate release.

Advanced safety

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB also comes with the latest advanced safety features from Mercedes-Benz. Features like active brake assist ensure optimal stopping power in any situation while advanced driver assistance technologies can detect potential collisions and warn the driver or react to avoid an accident. Blind spot assist and adaptive highbeam assist are standard and there is also a dashcam so you can monitor the road and record any incident. The 2023 EQB also features a crosswind assist feature that reduces the impact of wind on the side of the vehicle and trajectory when you are driving on the highway, for example. Other great features include a heated windshield washer system which ensures optimal visibility in cold weather as well as a traffic sign assist feature that can detect traffic signs on the road and will tell you what the speed limit is when you are driving.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB starts at $75,700. Give us a call today to learn more about this impressive new SUV from Mercedes-Benz.
