Differences between the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC remains one of the most appealing compact luxury sport utility vehicles in its segment. The GLC offers a near-perfect balance of comfort, sporty handling, interior versatility, and advanced safety and connectivity technology. This is true in any version of the GLC, but buyers interested in the Mercedes-Benz compact SUV do have to decide between the 2022 GLC 300 which is the entry-level model, and the 2022 AMG GLC 43.

Both models offer standard 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive and both offer the same interior space and cargo capacity. That means that both will offer up to 1,600 L of cargo space and will certainly be able to meet your needs in terms of interior versatility. Both the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 and the AMG GLC 43 also come with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The main difference between both models is found under the hood while we also notice some aesthetic differences as well.

Powertrain and style differences between Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and Mercedes-Benz GLC 300

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 features a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine with 385 hp and 384 pound-feet of torque. This pushes the GLC 43 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Moreover, the GLC 43 has a very distinct and noticeable exhaust sound. The quad circular exhaust tips in the back are your first sign that the GLC 43 puts the focus on performance. At startup, the engine roars to life with a distinct rumble that will get noticed while under hard accelerations with the sportiest DYNAMIC SELECT driving mode chosen, the GLC 43 sounds absolutely amazing. As far as the exhaust note goes, enthusiasts will fall in love with every acceleration and downshift behind the wheel of their AMG GLC 43.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 also looks more aggressive. It comes standard with the AMG body styling package which is an option on the GLC 300, and it features standard 20-inch wheels while the GLC 300 comes on standard 19-inch wheels. It will also be stiffer, particularly on broken roads. It provides sportier handling, but those who prefer comfort might find the GLC 43 a bit firm.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 is no slouch in the performance department. It features a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 255 hp and 273 pound-feet of torque, enough to power it to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. When passing from 80 km/h to 120 km/h, it requires just 4.7 seconds while the GLC AMG 43 needs just four seconds. In other words, there is a significant difference when accelerating to 100 km/h, but when you are going, the difference is less noticeable. Moreover, the GLC 300 will be more refined and quieter, and it is more accessible with a starting price of just over $51,000 while the AMG GLC 43 starts at $69,600

With the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 and Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, Mercedes-Benz offers two distinct versions of a very popular compact SUV that delivers what buyers want from this type of vehicle. The right choice for you will depend on what you want from your compact luxury SUV. If you want the space and versatility paired with an aggressive design and even sportier level of performance, the GLC 43 will be perfect for you. If you prefer compact refinement and luxury that still delivers strong performance, the GLC 300 is a great option. Give us a call today to learn more.
